Cristiano Ronaldo to be decisive for Portugal, Italy could upset Germany

The After Dark panel breakdown the lack of attacking play across the three knockout games, and how affects the tournament.

Cristiano Ronaldo to inspire Portugal

We have reached the quarterfinal stage of this summer's European Championship and if the last eight can replicate anything like the type of drama witnessed in the round of 16, then fans of the beautiful game are in for a treat. Portugal and Poland kickoff proceedings on Thursday with the odds compilers favouring Cristiano Ronaldo's men to progress. Ronaldo's threat was largely snuffed out by a Croatia side who showed very little ambition beyond trying to keep...

Back England for a narrow win against Iceland at Euro 2016

Roy Hodgson is adamant that England's best is still to come against Iceland and that their strikers will produce for the team.

England to avoid slip up vs. Iceland

The round of 16 concludes on Monday with two contrasting but nevertheless intriguing ties.

The bookies fully expect England to make short work of Iceland -- a country with no professional football clubs and a population roughly the same size as Coventry. They have been one of the stories of the tournament, gaining admirers ever since the 1-1 draw with Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in their opener. Another draw with Hungary followed before an injury-time goal...

Croatia to beat Portugal in round of 16, Argentina to win Copa America

Croatia fans celebrated their team's 2-1 win over Spain which saw them win Group D.

The 2016 European Championship should go into overdrive from this weekend as the knockout stages begin.

In truth, the group stages failed to hit the heights for the most part and the 69 goals scored-- at a rate of 1.92 per game -- is the lowest total since 1992. You can't say it hasn't been competitive though. We saw numerous betting favourites turned over in the group stages and the fact that no team were able to win all their group games tells its own story.

The likes of Hungary, Wales, Northern...

England, Wales and late goals a good bet in the last Euro 2016 group games

Jamie Vardy stresses the importance of England's bench ahead of their clash with Slovakia.

England will look to claim the top spot in Group B on Monday night by beating Slovakia. It's been a strange tournament so far for the Three Lions. They were excellent for long spells against Russia and looked to have made the perfect start before being hit by an injury-time Vasili Berezutski sucker punch as they drew 1-1 in Marseille.

Their performance was less convincing in Lens but Roy Hodgson's young side showed their battling qualities as they roared to a 2-1 victory and scored an injury-time...

Belgium to get back on track vs. Ireland; Italy to beat Sweden

The ESPN FC team discuss why Belgium continue to struggle despite the abundance of top players in their squad.

Even though all the teams at Euro 2016 have played at least once each, it's not clearer who the favourite is to win the trophy. Italy have been the big movers in the outright market following their impressive opening 2-0 win over Belgium.

On Friday afternoon the Italy face Sweden and are 5/6 shots with bet365 to claim their second win and guarantee a place in the round of 16. That's a price that suggests they will be victorious.

The Azzurri were written off by almost everyone before the event...

England to overcome Gareth Bale and Wales

The ESPN FC panel preview England's upcoming Euro 2016 encounter against a confident Wales side.

On Thursday, England face a crunch Group B encounter against Wales. A 1-1 draw with Russia means this is almost must win territory now for Roy Hodgson's battlers, who are 4/7 with bet365 for the win.

The general consensus is if England can stop Gareth Bale they can stop Wales. The Real Madrid star hit seven of Wales' 11 goals in qualifying and was on target again as the Welsh claimed a 2-1 win in their opening game against Slovakia. Bale has added spice to the clash by claiming Wales' players have...
