LIVE Transfer Talk: PSG to beat Barcelona with improved offer for Manchester City's Bernardo Silva

The summer transfer window is here, and there's plenty of gossip swirling about who's moving where. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: PSG have inside track to Silva

Paris Saint-Germain are working on a deal to sign Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, according to The Times.

Barcelona also have been strongly linked with the Portugal international, who wants to leave the Etihad.

However, the Parisians are not working under the same financial issues that Barcelona are currently facing and they are confident that Silva will move to France if a fee can be agreed with City.

It is added that PSG are prepared to pay as much as €70 million for the 28-year-old, whose City contract runs until 2025.

Offering Silva improved personal terms will reportedly not be an issue for PSG, something that can't be said of Barcelona.

The Catalans have pinned a lot of their hopes of signing Silva on the player's preference of joining them. But the club still need to create more salary space if they are to sign any more players -- Jules Kounde remains unregistered while their other four summer additions (Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie) were registered the day before last Saturday's season opener.

As for PSG, the Ligue 1 champs so far permanently signed Vitinha, Renato Sanches, Nordi Mukiele and Nuno Mendes this summer, while bringing Hugo Ekitike on loan from Reims.

21.32 BST: The deal to take Houssem Aouar from Lyon to Nottingham Forest has collapsed, reports Foot Mercato. The Premier League side were said to have agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old midfielder, but the French club's valuation reportedly changed.

After an improved second offer was rejected by the Groupama Stadium hierarchy, Forest became frustrated and pulled out of further negotiations. Crystal Palace have been keeping tabs on the situation, and could now make a move for Aouar in the coming days.

20.59 BST: Atletico Madrid could initiate talks with Barcelona over reducing the €40m permanent move clause in Antoine Griezmann's loan arrangement, according to Mundo Deportivo. Los Colchoneros will be obligated to pay the full fee if the 31-year-old forward plays 45 minutes in 50% of matches this season, but Diego Simeone's side are reluctant to keep him at the Wanda Metropolitano at such a cost. Griezmann played 28 minutes as a substitute in Atleti's LaLiga opener against Getafe, scoring the final goal of the 3-0 victory.

20.26 BST: Talks between Chelsea and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were scheduled for Thursday as the Blues try to agree personal terms, writes Fabrizio Romano. It is reported that an official bid will be made to Barcelona after the talks have concluded, with the Blaugrana looking for a transfer fee of around €30m to part ways with the 33-year-old striker who joined from Arsenal in January.

20.09 BST: With Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho low on confidence, and Cristiano Ronaldo potentially on his way out of Old Trafford, Manchester United are in the market for another wide forward. The Red Devils have been linked with Christian Pulisic of Chelsea and Erik ten Hag's former charge at Ajax Antony, and the Telegraph adds that United are now considering Yannick Carrasco of Atletico Madrid.

The 28-year-old Belgium international has two years remaining on his contract in the Spanish capital, and Los Rojiblancos would consider letting him leave the Wanda Metropolitano if they received a transfer fee of £25.5m. Carrasco could emerge as a more achievable target than the likes of Pulisic and Antony.

19.53 BST: Southampton have emerged as favourites to sign Manchester United midfielder James Garner, reports the Manchester Evening News. The 21-year-old has been on the radar of a number of clubs this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Nottingham Forest also linked with a move, but the latest indicates that a move to St. Mary's Stadium is most likely as the Red Devils seek a transfer fee between £15m and £20m.

19.20 BST: While Chelsea continue their pursuit of Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Telegraph reports that the Gabon international is merely a stop-gap solution. While Aubameyang has positive history with Blues boss Thomas Tuchel from their time working together at Borussia Dortmund, at 33 years old, he represents a short-term fix.

Next summer is when the Stamford Bridge hierarchy will attempt to recruit a long-term heir to the seemingly cursed No. 9 shirt vacated by Romelu Lukaku. Rafael Leao, 23, of AC Milan; RB Leipzig's 24-year-old Christopher Nkunku; and Sasa Kalajdzic, the 25-year-old VfB Stuttgart striker out of contract at the end of the season, all are options that Chelsea could consider in the summer of 2023.

18.47 BST: Athletic Club centre-back Inigo Martinez has no plans to sign a new deal with with the Basque club as he looks to set up a move to Barcelona, writes Sport. After Xavi Hernandez's side saw their first offer of €15m, it looks as though the Blaugrana will initiate talks over a pre-contract agreement in January when the 31-year-old's contract enters the final six months. Martinez is keen to not miss out on a move to the Camp Nou after they were interested in him in 2017.

18.30 BST: Chelsea are prepared to allow centre-back Trevoh Chalobah leave the club on loan, according to the Athletic. The 23-year-old academy graduate has yet to feature for the first team this season, and is desperate for playing time, something the Blues accept they cannot offer.

Other Premier League clubs and sides in Italy are said to be interested in Chalobah. Chelsea will not entertain any offers that include an option or an obligation to turn his loan into a permanent transfer, however.

18.14 BST: There's been plenty of news on potential incomings at Manchester United, but right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka looks to be one of the players who could leave Old Trafford before the transfer window closes, reports the Evening Standard. United and Crystal Palace reportedly have held talks over a move that would see the 24-year-old return to his former club, having joined the Red Devils for a £50m transfer fee in 2019, with the Eagles considering a £10m offer.

17.41 BST: Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro is weighing up an offer to join Manchester United or to continue his career at the Bernabeu, sources have told ESPN's Adriana Garcia and Rodrigo Faez. The Brazil midfielder wants to make a decision before the end of the week. Read the full story.

17.08 BST: Former Real Madrid captain Marcelo is on the radar of Nice, according to Foot Mercato. The 34-year-old left-back has been out of contract since his deal at the Santiago Bernabeu expired this summer, and it is reported that contact has already been initiated between his representatives and the Ligue 1 club, who are confident that his salary demands won't be an issue.

16.35 BST: Like it or not, football is a business and part of every business involves making money. Some clubs in Europe are better at this than others when it comes to the transfer market, while some are in a different league altogether.

Since 2010, we've looked at some of the top teams when it comes to making a profit from the exits of their players. Usually, that means bringing in an unknown in for a cheap transfer fee, developing them, moving them on for a lot more, and then starting the cycle again.

While it's possible to make a profit on a world-class star like Neymar -- who Barcelona signed for €88 million from Santos in 2013 and moved on to Paris Saint-Germain for €222m four years later -- the majority of successful dealings for clubs comes with lower-profile players. And -- spoiler alert -- the big clubs are not usually the ones who benefit in the short term as they are forced to pay more to land their targets.

16.02 BST: Villarreal coach Unai Emery has confirmed the club are interested in signing striker Edinson Cavani.

Cavani has been a free agent since leaving Manchester United earlier this summer. The Uruguay forward turned down a move to Boca Juniors last month.

Villarreal are waiting for forwards Paco Alcacer and Boulaye Dia to find a new destination before making a move for Cavani.

"It's a name that has been there," Emery said of Cavani. "But we will talk and analyse how we are at the start of the season and what we need. Cavani is a great player. If we complete the exits [of Alcacer and Dia], we will talk to the club's CEO [Fernando Roig] about this."

15.40 BST: Arsenal have signed Sweden international forward Lina Hurtig from Juventus ahead of the new Women's Super League season.

Hurtig, 26, has scored 19 goals in 58 caps for her country, playing most recently in the Euro 2022 semifinal loss to England.

Arsenal, who finished second in the WSL last season, one point behind champions Chelsea, begin the 2022-23 campaign at Manchester City on Sept. 11.
