LIVE Transfer Talk: Kylian Mbappe in talks over new Paris Saint-Germain contract

The 2022 January transfer window is open (find out when it closes here), and there's plenty of gossip swirling about who's moving where. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings and goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Mbappe in talks over new PSG contract

It's the news Real Madrid probably didn't want to hear, as Telefoot journalist Julien Maynard is reporting that Kylian Mbappe has opened talks over a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain -- but it won't be a long-term deal.

Mbappe, 23, is out of contract at the end of the season and was widely expected to move to the Bernabeu on a free transfer. But this latest development casts doubt on that.

The report suggests he could sign a short extension, which would force Real Madrid into once again offering a transfer fee for the striker.

Last summer, Los Blancos offered €220 million but PSG simply ignored it.

Real Madrid are also linked with Erling Haaland, who on Friday night said he is being pressured by Borussia Dortmund to make a decision over his future.

22.20 GMT: Recent Italian media reports have suggested Paulo Dybala's frustration with Juventus, and the Argentina playmaker send an apparent message to the club after scoring in Saturday's 2-0 Udinese.

The striker glared toward the stands following his goal where the club's board members were sitting, seemingly unhappy with the lack of progess over a new deal. He has yet to agree an extension to his Juve contract, which is due to expire at the end of the season, despite long-running negotiations.

After the game, Dybala downplayed the gesture, saying he was looking for a friend in the stands. On the contract talks,  he told DAZN: "I have nothing to prove to anyone. The club decided that we will talk in February or March, I am available to the coach."

21.45 GMT: Lille president Olivier Letang said the club is looking at Hatem Ben Arfa if case the defending Ligue 1 champions see the departure of Yusuf Yazici.

Speaking L'Equipe, Letang admitted Yazici may head to CSKA Moscow which would allow Les Dogues to sign 34-year-old Ben Arfa on a free. The ex-France international is without a club after leaving Bordeaux last season.

Letang also spoke on Sven Botman, who has been linked with clubs such as Newcastle and AC Milan. The Dutch defender, according to Letang, is expected to remain with Lille through the rest of their campaign.

"[Botman] is an important player and man. He has already expressed his qualities," Letang said. "We have a very clear position that we need him, so Sven Botman will stay with us until the end of the season to help us achieve these goals."

21.00 GMT: Newcastle may or may not have signed Chris Wood just to weaken relegation rivals Burnley, but that hasn't stopped the Clarets from quickly trying to find a replacement. According to the Daily Mail, Burnley are targeting former Newcastle and Liverpool striker Andy Carroll to bolster their attacking options.

Carroll joined Championship side Reading on a short-term deal in November and has scored one goal in seven games. The 33-year-old was released by hometown club Newcastle in the summer but found a landing spot with the Royals to prove his fitness. With the contract expiring this month, it could bring renewed interest from a club such as Burnley that is seeking to remain in the Premier League.

20.15 GMT: FC Dallas youngster Justin Che is on the verge of a move to Hoffenheim, according to Sport1.

The 18-year-old United States Under-20 man spent time training with Bayern Munich last season but looks to join another Bundesliga team. The deal is set to be an 18-month loan with an option to buy. Should the move be complete, he'll join fellow Dallas academy product Chris Richards, who is on loan at Hoffenheim from Bayern. Che, who can play right back or center back, supplied three assists in 15 games last season as FC Dallas.

19.30 GMT: Dusan Vlahovic has been an in-demand player on the transfer market as suitors including Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham targeting the Fiorentina star.

But the Florence side are at risk of losing the Serbian striker on a free transfer due to the player refusing to extend his current deal. According to Corriere dello Sport, Il Viola are willing to part with Vlahovic this month because they're afraid of losing him on a free transfer next year.

19.00 GMT: Flamengo have offered Manchester United £8 million for the permanent transfer of Andreas Pereira, according to the Sun.

Brazil international Pereira has been with Flamengo since 2021 on a loan, but the Rio de Janeiro club are hoping to make the switch permanent. However, the initial loan deal included £16m permanent option, so it is expected for the £8m to be pushed back.

Pereira joined United in 2014 but has has had loan spells with Granada, Valencia and Lazio.

18.25 GMT: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is hopeful that Loris Karius could find a new club before the keeper's contract expires in the summer.

Karius remains training with the squad but has fallen way down the pecking order for Klopp's side, listed as the fifth choice on the roster. But Klopp said that Karius deserves a fresh start somewhere else and hopes a solution will emerge.

"[He] doing absolutely nothing wrong and he is in a really good shape, he is training really hard, Klopp said as quoted by the Daily Mail. "Before the season we made a decision and obviously it was in the club's interest as well that Loris finds a new club but that didn't happen. We made a decision that he will be treated completely normally, absolutely."

Following his disastrous performance against Real Madrid at the 2018 Champions League final in Kiev, Karius went on loan at Besiktas and Union Berlin.

18.00 GMT: Napoli are in search of a new left-back and Sky Italia reports that the club have circled back to a previous target -- Ajax's Nicolas Tagliafico. The Argentina international has been with the Amsterdam side since in 2018, but the Naples side are looking to bring the player in. Tagliafico remains under contract at Ajax through 2023.

17.12 GMT: RMC Sport reports that Newcastle United have made an enquiry for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas

Navas, 35, has fallen behind Italy No. 1 Gianluigi Donnarumma at the Parc des Princes. But report says that Newcastle have been told that Navas will not be leaving Paris in January.

16.31 GMT: Arsenal Women have announced the signing of Austrian defender Laura Wienroither.

Wienroither, 23, moves to the Women's Super League club from Frauen-Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.

"It's an incredible feeling for me." Wienroither told Arsenal Media. "I'm really happy to be here and to have the opportunity and I'm looking forward to being with the team. When I first heard about Arsenal's interest I couldn't believe it, and I still can't believe it!"

15.42 GMT: Leeds United forward Raphinha has been linked with several of Europe's top clubs after a superb 18 months at Elland Road. Bayern Munich and Liverpool are among the clubs said to be tracking the Brazil international.

But Leeds are hoping to ward off interest by rewarding the 25-year-old with a new, improved contract. And Leeds coach Marcelo Bielsa is delighted with the development.

"I think it's a great decision. Raphinha is the best player in the team in all the senses," Bielsa said. "Physically he's the best, technically he's at the level of the best, his interpretation of the game is very good, very wise.

"He's in the group of such a powerful nation in Brazil, he shines in the Premier League and he has the attention of all the big clubs in the world."

15.00 GMT: Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Inter Milan are ready to step up their interest in Juventus midfielder Paulo Dybala

Dybala, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and has failed to reach agreement over a new deal. That has triggered interest from Inter, and Gazzetta says the club have now contacted his agent, Jorge Antun, as the first step to sealing a free transfer in the summer.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is said to have spoken to Antun on the phone and a meeting over personal terms is likely next month.

It is said that Dybala will be offered €7.5m a season plus add-ons on a five-year contract to move to the San Siro.

14.12 GMT: Arsenal could be about to make a shock contract offer to former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea striker Diego Costa, reports Goal.

Costa, 33, is set to leave Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro after agreeing to cancel his contract -- and that would pave the way for him to return to the Premier League.

The report states that Arsenal are yet to make a formal offer, with Corinthians also interested.

Don't Arsenal get enough red cards as it is?

13.26 GMT: Erling Haaland said Borussia Dortmund are pressuring him to choose a new club this summer.

Haaland, 21, is one of the most sought-after players in world football with top clubs in the Premier League as well as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain interested in his signing, according to ESPN, and he is expected to leave Dortmund at the end of the season.

Speaking after his side's 5-1 win over Freiburg in which he scored twice, Haaland told Norwegian TV channel Viaplay: "The last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision.

"All I want to do is play football. But they press me about my future, so that means I have to make a decision soon."

12.40 GMT: Football Insider reports that Southampton have shown an interest in Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, but they may have to wait until the summer to get him.

Henderson, 24, has failed to displace David De Gea as United's No. 1, and has now asked to leave Old Trafford.

The report states that Southampton have made their interest known, and Henderson still hopes to leave this month. But United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has told Henderson that he wants him to stay at the club until the end of the season.

"I told [Henderson] I would like him to stay because he is a fantastic goalkeeper, in training yesterday he had a couple of fantastic saves," Rangnick told a news conference on Friday. "I can fully understand he wants to play. He's at an age where you should regularly play but we are in three competitions and we need three goalkeepers right now. I can understand his desire to get regular game-time elsewhere in the Premier League."

11.51 GMT: Joao Felix is "untouchable" at Atletico Madrid, Marca reports, with the LaLiga club ruling out a move for the Portugal forward this month -- or in the summer -- despite reports linking him with Manchester City.

The 22-year-old has often looked an awkward fit for Diego Simeone's team since joining from Benfica for a club record fee of €126m in 2019 and has scored just two goals in 12 LaLiga appearances this season in an injury-disrupted campaign.

According to the newspaper, Atletico have no interest in letting Joao go this year, just as they refused to entertain a departure to Barcelona as part of the deal that brought Antoine Griezmann back to the club last summer.

11.06 GMT: Tanguy Ndombele looks to be on his way out at Tottenham Hotspur, with Football London reporting that the midfielder has been told train on his own by coach Antonio Conte.

The 25-year-old was booed off by the Spurs fans during last weekend's FA Cup game against Morecambe, and was left out of the Carabao Cup semifinal second leg against Chelsea on Wednesday night.

Napoli are one club who have been linked with Ndombele, who was Spurs' record signing when he joined from Lyon in 2019.

"In this moment Tanguy Ndombele is a Tottenham player. For this reason, you have to consider him a Tottenham player," Conte said on Friday, hardly a glowing endorsement.

10.18 GMT: La Repubblica in Italy is reporting that Arsenal are pressing ahead with their interest in Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.

Vlahovic, 21, is one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe and has rejected a new contract. The Serie A club are now trying to get the best transfer fee they can with only 18 months left on the striker's deal.

Arsenal have tried to jump the queue by making efforts to sign the Serbia international this month. And the report says that the Gunners have offered €70 million to try and get a deal done now.

09.30 GMT: Sergino Dest faces an uncertain future at Barcelona after being left out of the squad for Wednesday's 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercopa, but is determined to fight for his place, sources have told ESPN.

Teams from around Europe, including Bayern Munich and Chelsea, are monitoring Dest's situation, but sources close to the United States international have told ESPN he hopes to stay at Camp Nou beyond the January transfer window and prove his worth.

However, sources at the club refuse to rule out an exit this month. The right-back has fallen out of favour under new coach Xavi Hernandez and his departure could help fund a move for a new striker.

PAPER GOSSIP

- Journalist Ekrem Konur reveals that West Ham United are keen on acquiring Ludovic Ajorque. The 27-year-old Strasbourg forward has provided 10 goals and six assists in 17 games. West Ham may have to offer a significant fee to persuade Strasbourg to release their key frontman in a season where they are chasing European qualification.

- Palmeiras have advanced their approach for Bayer Leverkusen striker Lucas Alario, according to Ekrem Konur. The 29-year-old has mainly found himself on the bench this season, coming on as a substitute 11 times in Bundesliga games, while starting on just one occasion. But after a previous successful spell with River Plate, he could now be set for a return to South America, with Copa Libertadores winners Palmeiras looking to bolster their forward line.

- The Portland Timbers are continuing their moves in the transfer market, and journalist Cesar Luis Merlo writes that they are in for David Ayala. The 19-year-old midfielder has worked himself into the Estudiantes first team in recent months, as well as having represented Argentina at the youth levels.

- Sampdoria are moving fast in the January window and have overtaken Genoa in the race for Roberto Piccoli, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. It is reported that the Serie A club are now favourites to land the in-demand 20-year-old Atalanta forward. And Sampdoria are also working hard to secure a second move: Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi, who has struggled for regular minutes this season, with the 26-year-old starting just one game for the Nerazzurri.
