TOP STORY: Man United eye summer move for Maddison

The Independent reports that Manchester United are still very much interested in securing the services of star Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

It is said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won't make a move during the January transfer window but will look to attract the 23-year-old to Old Trafford during the summer. Solskjaer's interest in the Coventry City academy graduate has strengthened after he missed out on securing Bruno Fernandes' services from Sporting Lisbon, with the Portuguese outfit reportedly wanting £68 million.

The report adds that Leicester City chiefs are keen to retain Maddison's services, and will part with him only for a premium price.

James Maddison is at the top of Manchester United's wanted list.

LIVE BLOG

21.15 GMT: It's been a rocky road so far for Barcelona, and Saturday's loss to Valencia won't make things easier for new boss Quique Setien. As such, Barcelona may be in the hunt for reinforcments, with FootMercato reporting that France international Wissam Ben Yedder may arrive from AS Monaco for the low price of €80m.

Luis Suarez has been hobbled and Antoine Griezmann is still adapting, so the Blaugrana may see the 29-year-old Ligue 1 playmaker as a way to shore up the attack.

21.00 GMT: Argentina midfielder Ever Banega will be taking his talents from southern Spain to Saudi Arabia, with the Sevilla player agreeing to a three-year deal with Al-Shabab. Banega, 31, has previously played at Inter Milan and Valencia.

20.15 GMT: When asked about the Christian Eriksen saga on Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho said: "The only thing I can say is Eriksen, since I arrive, he is behaving in a very, very professional way, with me and the team. Tottenham is the last one to blame for this situation, but to be on the 25th of January in a situation like this is not nice."

19.28 GMT: Paris Saint-Germain forward Angel Di Maria has said he intends to finish his playing career in his native Argentina. The 31-year-old has played for Real Madrid and Manchester United but claimed that PSG will be his last club in Europe.

"No, for now, there have been no talks [over a potential contract extension]," he told a news conference. "I have one year left on my current deal. I am relaxed and continuing to work hard. I am not thinking much about it. I hope PSG will be my last European club and that I will return to Argentina afterwards."

17.39 GMT: Paulo Dybala has said he was close to leaving Juventus in the summer. The Argentina international was linked with a move to Premier League clubs Manchester United and Tottenham but he stayed in Turin.

"I was close to leaving," he told the Guardian. "That was in the club's thinking, I knew. Until the last minute, we were waiting. I have two years left on my contract. That's not a short time but it's not a long one either. We'll see what plans Juventus have, if they think I might leave in the next market or if they want me to stay. That's a decision for the club to make. It's hard to know because things change in a second."

15.51 GMT: SWAP DEAL! Barcelona have signed midfielder Matheus Pereira from Juventus while Barça B's Alejandro Marques has joined the Italian champions for €8.2 million. Marques, 19, was born in Venezuela but moved to Spain at an early age and has represented his country at U19 level. He's made 11 appearances for Barca B this season in the Spanish third division. As part of the deal, Pereira joins Barca's B team until the summer, when they will have an option to make the move permanent. The midfielder, 21, spent the first half of this season on loan with French club Dijon

14.08 GMT: Christian Eriksen may have played his last ever game for Tottenham. The attacking midfielder travelled with Spurs for their FA Cup tie against Southampton but was not included in the matchday squad. The Denmark international is expected to secure a move to Inter Milan before the transfer window closes.

Another player who will not feature for Spurs in Danny Rose. The defender has been left out of the squad for the third consecutive match and Sky Sports reported that Watford, Bournemouth and Newcastle United are keen to sign the fullback this month.

13.14 GMT: USMNT defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is set to leave Tottenham in the transfer window this month, according to Team Talk. The report claims that Championship clubs Fulham, Derby County, Huddersfield and Middlesbrough are interested in signing the 22-year-old on a loan deal. He was previously on loan at Stoke City at the start of the season but was unable to get regular playing time and recalled back to Spurs.

12.27 GMT: Rangers have announced Jermain Defoe has signed a pre-contract to join on a permanent basis in the summer. The striker joined on a loan deal from Premier League side Bournemouth last January and has scored 24 goals during his time at Ibrox. Defoe, who spent a year with MLS side Toronto FC, is looking to win the first league title of his career and the first for Rangers since 2011.

11.33 GMT: Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig have announced the signing of Dani Olmo from Dinamo Zagreb for an undisclosed fee. The forward, who came up through the youth ranks at Barcelona, scored two goals in the Champions League group stage this season. He also netted on his full Spain debut in a 7-0 win over Malta in November.

10.59 GMT: Real Madrid have snapped up promising 19-year-old forward Hugo Vallejo from Segunda Division outfit Malaga, and loaned him straight back out to Deportivo La Coruna.

10.29 GMT: RMC Sport is reporting that Arsenal are in talks to sign Thomas Lemar from Atletico Madrid. The France international has struggled since moving to La Liga from AS Monaco for £52.7m, but a move to the Emirates may not happen before the window closes.

10.01 GMT: A report in the Guardian says Christian Eriksen is on the verge of completing a move to Inter Milan from Tottenham. The Denmark international is expected to travel to Milan and have a medical early next week with a fee of around €20 million reportedly agreed.

09.30 GMT: Less than a week to go in the winter transfer window. Will we see any big moves? Will anyone sign Bruno Fernandes? Stay with us.

PAPER ROUND: Barca talent Perez close to securing Serie A move

Roma are in advanced talks to sign 21-year-old Barcelona striker Carles Perez, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The report suggests that Perez is likely to join Roma as a replacement for Nicolo Zaniolo, who is expected to miss the rest of the season because of a cruciate injury. It adds that Barcelona's final go-ahead is the only thing preventing a deal from being completed.

Perez has made 12 appearances for the Blaugrana in all competitions this season, scoring two goals, having graduated from the club's famed La Masia academy.

Suso's Spanish homecoming?

Former Liverpool winger Suso could be on his way out of AC Milan as discussions continue regarding a potential loan move to Spanish La Liga outfit Sevilla, Calciomercato reports.

Reportedly the target of several Premier League clubs as well, Suso has struggled to rediscover his form at the San Siro this campaign, making only 18 appearances. Now, though, Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui has declared his interest in the 26-year-old, having previously worked with him in Spain's national youth team.

The report states two types of deals are being discussed: a loan move with an obligation to buy or a loan move with an option to buy. The former is understandably Milan's preferred option, with an outcome expected in the coming days.

Tap-ins

- The Guardian writes that Leicester City striker Islam Slimani has been offered to Manchester United, despite the forward already on loan at Monaco, where he has scored an average of a goal every other appearance. Should the Red Devils move for the 31-year-old to replace the injured Marcus Rashford, it could cost them up to £5m.

- Injury-hit Bournemouth have declared their interest in RB Leipzig winger Ademola Lookman, according to the Mail, whom the Cherries are targeting for a loan through the remainder of the season. His parent club, however, would prefer a loan with an option to buy -- something Bournemouth are not prepared to do. Another name on Eddie Howe's list is Tottenham's Danny Rose, as the Dorset side search for answers to their relegation-threatened season.
