TOP STORY: Conte to return for Modric in summer window
Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte will renew his efforts to sign Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric in the summer, when the Croatia international enters the final year of his contract at the Bernabeu, according to reports at Sport.
The World Cup finalist will turn 35 in September, and the emergence of Federico Valverde in the Real midfield means it appears increasingly unlikely that the club will look to further extend Modric's stay in Spain.
Those developments have given Inter a refreshed sense of hope that they will finally land the man they have pursued for over a year, and the Nerazzurri are putting terms together ahead of a summer bid.
Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, meanwhile, has identified Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek as Modric's long-term successor, and will launch a €55m bid for the Dutchman at the end of the season.

22.17 GMT: Roma have their sights set on former Manchester United forward Adnan Januzaj (remember him?) after being told Liverpool aren't keen on loaning Xherdan Shaqiri to the Serie A giants, reports Sportitalia.
Per the report (via Football Italia), Roma have contacted the Real Sociedad man who could be available on loan with an option to purchase this summer for €15 million.
21.49 GMT: Villarreal striker Karl Toko Ekambi is close to joining Lyon on a loan this month that could lead to a €20 million purchase in the summer, per a report in France Football.
The 27-year-old, who joined The Yellow Submarine from Angers for €7m, has scored 18 goals in 43 games for the La Liga side.
21.25 GMT: Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has minimized reports linking him to a move to Barcelona.
The 22-year-old Argentina international has scored 15 goals to help Inter's Serie A title push thus far. And he told TycSports that he has every intention of staying right where he is, despite the Camp Nou rumours.
"I'm calm," said. "Today, I'm an Inter player and I'm happy here.
"The fact that they speak well of me means that I'm doing something right and the intention is to continue on this path. I'm calm, happy and at ease with Inter."
20.59 GMT: Wolverhampton boss Nuno Espirito Santo has insisted that his side need reinforcements this month.
Speaking to Sky Sports after Wolves' 3-2 victory over Southampton on Saturday, the Portuguese said: "We have the transfer window and we have to re-balance again."
He then doubled down when asked if that meant bringing in news players.
"Of course. We are working on it," he said.
20.24 GMT: Arsenal's Brazilian sporting director Edu Gaspar has his eye on a promising countryman, with Globoesporte reporting that Gaspar has the Gunners in the mix for 22-year-old midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
Guimaraes, who plays his football at talent factory Athletico Paranaense, has become a hot property this window with Benfica and Atletico Madrid most closely linked to the player.
19.55 GMT: Are Man United giving up their pursuit of Bruno Fernandes and moving on to their next target? The Daily Express reports that following a stalled negotiation with Sporting CP, the club are ready to pivot to James Maddison and do everything possible to secure the Leicester and England playmaker ahead of a summer transfer. What a mess at Old Trafford.
19.20 GMT: Is Emre Can coming back to England? Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the former Liverpool midfielder, seemingly frozen out at Juventus, could be a target on Everton's radar given their need for midfield reinforcements.
Can, 26, left Liverpool on a free transfer in 2018 and was enjoying his time in Italy before the summer arrivals of Maurizio Sarri, Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot pushed the German midfielder down the pecking order.
18.38 GMT: Here's a good rumour involving Man City up next. The Mirror report that Leroy Sane, who famously tried to engineer a move to Bayern Munich last summer, has "sacked his agent" as he tries to figure out his future.
According to the report, Sane's decision to switch from DB Venture Limited, a company owned by David Beckham, to LIAN Sports (who rep Bayern defender Jerome Boateng) could be a sign ahead of another bid from the Bundesliga giants.
18.11 GMT: Are Aston Villa on the cusp of signing a striker? Sky reports that they're closing in on a long-rumoured deal for Genk striker Mbwana Samatta, according to Villa boss Dean Smith.
Speaking to Sky after Saturday's 1-1 draw at Brighton, Smith said "the paper work is getting ticked off. He's a good player and a good character." Villa certainly need some more quality and character up front given the long-term injury recently suffered by Wesley, their star signing last summer. Samatta has 10 goals for Genk in 28 appearances in all competitions this season.
17.44 GMT: Bad news for Premier League teams looking for a bargain attacking prospect from the Championship up next, as Sky Sports report a new contract for Hull winger Jarrod Bowen. At least, there's been a new contract offered to the 23-year-old, who already has 17 goals this season from the wide positions and is prompting attention from a slew of teams in England's top tier.
17.01 GMT: Newcastle could use some players and Sky Sports notes an interesting attendee at St. James' Park today for Chelsea's visit. The agent of Inter Milan right winger/right-midfielder Valentino Lazaro has been spotted in the stands to watch the match, with reports that the Magpies are considering a loan move for the 23-year-old Austrian international.
16.17 GMT: Erling Haaland has come on for Dortmund and scored a 22 minute hat trick.

15.25 GMT: Tottenham need a striker. During a 0-0 draw with Watford, Lucas Moura proved he is no Harry Kane, and they will need a reliable backup.
14.30 GMT: Liverpool forward Xherdan Shaqiri isn't able to break into the starting XI so Roma are looking at a bid.
Shaqiri, 28, is wanted by Jurgen Klopp, but only as a squad player. Roma can offer him more than that and are keen on a loan deal with an option to buy, says Gianlucadi Marzio.
13.43 GMT: We've not heard about Paul Pogba leaving Man United for all of about five minutes, so here's something.
Italian outlet Tuttosport claims that Juventus players Juan Cuadrado, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain are all contacting the Frenchman via WhatsApp to try and persuade him to come back to Turin.
13.20 GMT: Former Arsenal and Bayern Munich forward Lukas Podolski has parted company with his Japanese side Vissel Kobe.
Earlier this week, Podolski visited Johor Darul Ta'zim with talk of a move to the Malaysia Super League champions. And it seems he's free to head there now.
13.05 GMT: Arsenal forward Nicolas Pepe cost £72m in the summer, so fans have expected more than his three goals and assists from 19 games so far.
"I've done OK, but I can certainly do more," he told the Metro. "In fact, I must do more, and that is certainly something I will be looking to improve on during the second half of the season.
"The hardest period so far for me was when the team went through a difficult spell when we weren't managing to win a game. We worked hard as a team throughout this time and we finally managed to get that victory at West Ham last month, which was an important moment for us and the fans."

United and Sporting Lisbon still miles apart on Bruno Fernandes. Sporting want €65m up front and €15m in add ons despite talking to Tottenham for around €45m and add ons in the summer. United won't over pay and are prepared to walk away if price doesn't come down.

12.17 GMT: Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte isn't exactly making much effort when it comes to scouting new players. After landing Man United's Ashley Young, he's set his sights on Chelsea winger Victor Moses.
Moses, 29, is on loan at Fenerbahce and enjoyed playing under Conte during his spell at the Blues. Sky Sport Italia reports that Inter want a loan move with a €10m option to buy in the summer.
12.00 GMT: Tottenham play Watford shortly and you won't be surprised to learn that Christian Eriksen is on the bench.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano tweets: "Tottenham and Inter are in advanced talks - they hope to complete the deal on next week."
11.25 GMT: Juventus midfielder Emre Can was being linked with moves all over the place -- ok, mainly Man United -- but now AC Milan are interested in a move for the Germany international. according to Sport Mediaset.
Can, 25, was angry at being left out of the club's Champions League squad and La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Everton are also keen on him -- though as a former Liverpool player that will go down like a lead balloon.

10.38 GMT: Borussia Dortmund winger Jacob Bruun Larsen has appeared on the radar of Arsenal before and it seems the German club are willing to let him go now.
Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet says Dortmund are ready to listen to offers of €5m this month. Eintracht Frankfurt are reported to be most keen on taking the 21-year-old on loan, while Bournemouth are also being linked by Sky Sports.

ESPN first revealed news of Louie Barry's imminent move from Barcelona to Aston Villa earlier this month, but fans of the Premier League side have grown increasingly restless as they've waited for the club to #announce the striker. However, they needn't worry. Barry, 16, has been back in the Midlands for over a week and everything has been signed, sources have told ESPN. He's even been training with Villa's U23s.
The only thing delaying the announcement is clearance from FIFA. Even though the England youth international is returning home, it's still classed as an international transfer, and the clearance can take a few weeks to come through. As he's under 18, FIFA also require paperwork to be completed on his living arrangements -- back home with his family for now -- and education.
Barcelona midfielder Marcus McGuane is hopeful of finalising a move to return to England with Championship side Nottingham Forest, sources have told ESPN. The former Arsenal player is on a season-long loan at Dutch side Telstar but his performances have drawn plenty of interest from English sides this month.
McGuane, who became the first Englishman to play for Barca's first-team since Gary Lineker, is keen to make the move, with the three clubs looking to close a deal as soon as possible. The Spanish giants are happy to let the 20-year-old leave on a permanent basis, but Telstar believe they're due a small amount of compensation if his season-long loan is cut short.
09.56 GMT: Mundo Deportivo have news again of a swap deal for Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic and Juventus' Federico Bernardeschi.
There has been ongoing speculation about this one for some time and Rakitic's future at the club doesn't look secure, despite the change of manage recently.
09.44 GMT: ICYMI - Arsenal have spoken with Paris Saint-Germain's Layvin Kurzawa but are not the only European club interested in the left-back, sources have told ESPN.
Kurzawa, 27, who is into the final six months of his contract with PSG, does not have a future at Parc des Princes.
According to ESPN sources, the France international is the subject of interest from both Milan clubs but Arsenal and London are Kurzawa's preference, as well as the main motivation behind him changing representation to Kia Joorabchian's Sports Invest UK group on Friday.
09.00 GMT: Manchester United fans might be waiting for more news of a deal for Bruno Fernandes, but they'll have to make do with reports in the Daily Record that they have made a £25m move for Birmingham starlet Jude Bellingham.
Bellingham, 16, is hot property and his versatility (he is able to play wide or in the centre of midfield) has caught the eye of United scouts.
The club are also tracking Leicester's James Maddison and Aston Villa star Jack Grealish, with Bellingham considered a much cheaper option with more future potential.

Arsenal gunning for Boateng
Reports in The Sun claim Bayern Munich will let defender Jerome Boateng leave the club in the summer for a cut-price £12.8 million, with Arsenal in pole position to land the German.
The 31-year-old has amassed more than 300 appearances for the Bavarian outfit after joining from Manchester City in the summer of 2011, but has found himself in and out of the side this season, with Benjamin Pavard and Niklas Sule currently the preferred central defensive duo.
That leaves the door open for Mikel Arteta's Gunners, who are desperate for defensive reinforcements after Calum Chambers was ruled out for up to a year with a serious knee injury, while the Arsenal manager remains unconvinced over the likes of David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi.
Milan join race for Olmo
AC Milan have become the latest club to register their interest in Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Dani Olmo, according to Calciomercato.
The Spain international has impressed a string of European clubs with his performances in the Champions League, and the Rossoneri are now believed to be preparing a bid. The Italians are hoping their chief football officer, Zvonimir Boban, who played for both Milan and Zagreb, will be able to swing negotiations in their favour.
The Croatian champions are looking for a fee in the region of €25m for the 21-year-old, who made his debut for the Spanish national team in their 7-0 hammering of Malta in November.
La Liga side Atletico Madrid are also believed to be interested in the attacking midfielder, as well as Barcelona, Monaco, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
