Dybala's Real Madrid humble Bale's Man City in Combat Corona FIFA 20 charity match

The Combat Corona esports extravaganza took place on Sunday, with several big names from the soccer world converging on Twitch to tussle for FIFA 20 superiority.

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale's clash with Juventus forward Paulo Dybala was the headline attraction, and they are joined by a number of fellow pros (including Chelsea's Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Manchester United's Luke Shaw and Arsenal's Kieran Tierney) in an attempt to claim bragging rights and raise money for UNICEF.

The tournament culminated with a lively match between Bale and Dybala in which the two players ended up doing each other's trademark goal celebrations.

Dybala, playing as Real Madrid, left Bale out of his starting XI and proceeded to romp to a 3-0 victory over the Welshman's Manchester City side.

"I think it's a quick retirement from FIFA for me, to be honest," Bale said. "All it takes is one moment and my defence wasn't good enough."

However, Dybala promised that the replay would be much more suited to his vanquished opponent.

"It will be on the golf course," laughed the Argentina international after the full-time whistle.

Come the end of the event, Combat Corona were able to confirm that £18,000 had been raised to help fight the COVID-19 outbreak around the world.

Elsewhere, the second round of the Bundesliga Home Challenge got underway over the weekend, with 29 of the top sides in German football (and one team of referees) facing each other in an isolation-friendly online tournament.

Fans tuning in to watch the games were treated to an avalanche of goals, with no less than 139 being scored on the first matchday.

Sadly, the referees team slumped to a 5-2 defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach, while both Freiburg and Hoffenheim found the net 12 times!

There were also a number of eMLS friendlies on Twitch, with Minnesota United drubbing San Jose Earthquakes 7-1 and Montreal Impact racking up a classy victory over Orlando City.

However, the undisputed "goal of the day" come in the stellar tie between New York City FC and DC United.

Excellent stuff.
