Doncaster Rovers allow Bury to walk the ball in for equaliser after freak goal

Doncaster Rovers scored one of the weirdest goals in history against Bury in England's League One on Saturday, but their opponents were then allowed to get back an equaliser.

Harry Forrester scored in injury time for Doncaster in bizarre circumstances when he tried to return the ball from a throw-in to visiting keeper Chris Walton, who had thrown the ball out afteran injury, but the kick bounced over his head and into the net.

Rovers boss Paul Dickov then ordered his players to allow Bury to score from the restart, and Clarke, who had hit the woodwork three times during the game, ambled half the length of the pitch unchallenged to tap home.

"The sportsmanship shown by Doncaster Rovers today allowing us to get the equaliser was superb," said the Bury manager David Flitcroft. Goal scorer Clarke added: "It was a crazy goal, but it was the right thing to do."

Rovers manager Dickov added: "We had to do what was right. The officials have put us in an awkward situation and it could have been negated. We wanted to uphold the good name of Doncaster Rovers."
