Thailand look to finish job vs. Myanmar in AFF Suzuki Cup semis

Thailand will be out to finish the job against Myanmar in Thursday night's AFF Suzuki Cup semifinal at Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium.

The reigning champions hold a 2-0 lead from Sunday's first leg and are in rampant form in the tournament, having won all four of their matches, scoring eight goals, and conceding just twice.

A capacity crowd is expected, and Thai manager Kiatisuk Senamuang wants his players to dazzle the home support to secure a spot in the final.

"We want to show a good performance in front of our fans. We're expecting a full house. It's good for Thai football, and ASEAN football. We will aim for the win and go into the final," Kiatisuk told the tournament's official website.

In the first leg, Teerasil Dangda netted both goals at Thuwunna Stadium to take his goal tally to five in the tournament, and seven in his last four matches.

Even though he says he's not bothered about finishing as the tournament's top scorer, the former Almeria man will not need a second invitation to add to his tally against Myanmar, who can be porous in defence.

But the White Angels will be hopeful that a comeback is on the cards as Thailand could put out a new-look team, with Kiatisuk looking to give his fringe players a chance.

"To avoid yellow cards and suspensions, we can rotate our players as we have 23 men. We will play as planned, and we have no pressure," he said.

Gerd Ziese, meanwhile, is hoping for lady luck to smile on his underdog Myanmar side.

"Thailand have one and a half legs in the final, but we will take our mini-chance, and do our best," said Ziese.

"We want to put on a performance to satisfy our people back home. Thailand are a big team, so it will be difficult."

The winners will take on Indonesia, who dramatically ousted Vietnam 4-3 on aggregate on Wednesday night to make their first final since 2010. The two-legged decider will be played on Dec. 14 and 17.
