Malaysia held to 1-1 draw by Fiji in final Oceania tour game

Malaysia were held to a 1-1 draw by Fiji in the third and final match of their Oceania tour on Sunday afternoon at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The Tigers started the tour with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Papua New Guinea and then fought back from a goal down to defeat New Caledonia 2-1 on Wednesday.

A goal from Amri Yahyah set Kim Ong Swee's men on their way four minutes before the break. The Johor Darul Ta'zim star finished after good work from club colleague S. Chanturu.

Malaysia were heading for a second successive win but Roy Krisna equalised for the hosts after 72 minutes.

Both teams had chances to go on and win the game but had to settle for the draw.

Malaysia are likely to take on Singapore in a friendly on Oct. 7 as the two nations prepare for the third round of qualification for the 2019 Asian Cup as well as November's AFF Suzuki Cup.
