Sepp Blatter appeal verdict to be announced by CAS on Monday

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will announce its decision on former FIFA president Sepp Blatter's appeal against a six-year ban from football on Monday.

The result of Blatter's appeal will be made public at 14:00 GMT on Monday, a CAS statement confirmed.

Blatter, 80, who served as the president of world football's governing body from 1998 to 2015, is waiting for the CAS verdict after contesting the ban.

His punishment was imposed for a "disloyal payment" allegedly made to Michel Platini, then the UEFA president, in 2011.

Both were originally banned for eight years by FIFA last December, but that was reduced to six years by a an appeals panel in February.

In May, CAS cut Platini's ban by a further two years.
