Belgium keeper Thibaut Courtois: Hungary gameplan was too open

Thibaut Courtois has said Hungary helped Belgium set up a Euro 2016 quarterfinal meeting with Wales because they were too adventurous.

Belgium, ranked no. 2 in the world, won 4-0 thanks to goals from Toby Alderweireld, Michy Batshuayi, Eden Hazard and Yannick Ferreira.

And goalkeeper Courtois told RTBF: "I think we tried to attack from the first minute.

"They maybe made the mistake of wanting to play against us.

"You know that when teams want to play against us, we're very dangerous on the counter and when we have space. And we showed that."

Courtois predicted that Wales would take a more defensive approach when the two sides meet in Lille on Friday.

"They're a team that we know very well because we've played them lots of times," he said.

"They're a team that will play with 10 men behind the ball and everything through [Gareth] Bale."

Hungary goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly thinks Marc Wilmots' side will be tough for Wales to beat.

He told La Derniere Heure that Hungary had been "blunted and not very dynamic" and said he felt Belgium could go all the way at Euro 2016.

"They have very good players, in attack especially, and they have a good chance of winning the competition," he said.
