Onwards to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League we march, Barcelona sealing their place with a 3-1 (4-2 aggregate) win over Napoli while Bayern Munich dismantled Chelsea 4-1 on the night and 7-1 on aggregate. Here are the best numbers from the night's action.

1

It may not have ended happily, but Lorenzo Insigne does now own a peculiar record. He is the first Italian player ever in UCL history to score at least one goal at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid and one at the Camp Nou against Barcelona.

3

Only three players not named Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi have scored 12+ goals in a single UCL campaign -- Ruud van Nistelrooy, Mario Gómez, and now Robert Lewandowski.

7

Lewandowski was involved in all seven of Bayern Munich's goals against Chelsea this tie (3 goals, 4 assists). He is he first player to register 3+ goals and assists against an opponent in a UCL campaign since Luis Figo in 2004-05 vs AS Roma.

7-1

Chelsea's 7-1 defeat on aggregate to Bayern Munich was the second heaviest faced by an English team in CL history. The worst? Arsenal's 10-2 aggregate defeat in the last 16 in 2016-17, also against Bayern.

In fact, this is the first time Chelsea have shipped seven goals in a two-legged European tie in their history.

10-0

Bayern Munich and Barcelona have a combined 10 European Cups (five each). The other six quarterfinalists have combined to win... zero.

13

Lewandowski´s 13 goals this UCL season are tied for the most goals before the quarterfinals in a single UCL season. Ronaldo also had 13 at this point in 2013-14 and 2015-16.

Also 13

This is the 13th straight season in which Barcelona are making the UCL quarterfinals (last failing in 06/07 under Frank Rijkaard). This is, by far, the longest run in competition history - no other team has done it more than eight times.

31

Bayern have scored 31 goals in this season's CL. That's 11 more than any other team; Manchester City and PSG are tied second, with 20.

52

Lewandowski has scored 52 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions this season. That is more than anyone else across Europe's top 5 leagues this season. What a year to cancel the Ballon d'Or for the first time ever, eh?

66

Ah, Lewandowski, again. The Pole is now the outright fourth-highest scoring player in Champions League history, with 66 goals. Third place is eminently catchable - Raul is five ahead with 71.

79

Chelsea's defence has been a problem all season long. They have conceded 79 goals in all competitions in the 2019-20 season, at an average of 1.44 per game. This is their worst ratio in a season since the 1990-91 campaign, when they conceded at 1.64 a game.

83

In scoring the opener on the night, Clement Lenglet became the 83rd different player to score for Barcelona in the UCL (excluding own goals). Barca have had more unique goalscorers than any other side in the competition's history.

MESSI WATCH

He dribbled past three, fell over, sold a dummy while on the floor, got up, and whipped a stunning shot past David Ospina in the Napoli goal. And he won the penalty that Luis Suarez converted to make it three.

Just another day in the amazing world of Lionel Andres Messi.

35

Messi has scored against 35 different clubs in the Champions League, extending the record he already holds. Cristiano Ronaldo and Raul are next best, with 33.

54

Messi has completed the most dribbles in UCL this season, 54. Then there's broad daylight, and at 33 comes the next, Mateo Kovacic.

BONUS

10

Andrea Pirlo is now Juventus' manager. This comes 10 days after he was appointed head coach of the Juve U-23 team. He has been promoted before even managing a game.
