Bayern Munich freeze season ticket prices for fifth campaign in succession

ESPN FC's Bundesliga expert Raf Honigstein delves into how Bayern Munich's Champions League failure has led to complacency in their domestic play.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have announced that season ticket prices will remain unchanged for a fifth consecutive season.

A standing ticket on the southern terrace at the Allianz Arena will cost €140 for the Bundesliga season and provide the possibility to buy tickets for Champions League and DFB Pokal games at reduced prices.

A similar standing season ticket on Borussia Dortmund's "yellow wall" costs €215.

"Football in the Allianz Arena should be available to watch for everyone in our society," Bayern wrote in a letter to season ticket holders.

The club said they offered value for even exclusive seats, saying: "Real Madrid charges almost €2,000 for a Category 1 ticket. Bayern's, at €750, is considerably cheaper."

However, the club warned that prices were set to rise from the season after next, in line with inflation.

Neighbours 1860 Munich, who won promotion from the fourth-tier Regionalliga last season, will charge €222 for a season ticket on the Grunwalder Stadion's western terrace in 3-Liga, the lowest tier of German professional football.

1860 left the Allianz Arena in 2017 and share the Grunwalder with Bayern's reserves, who finished runners-up to them in the Regionalliga last season.
