James Rodriguez returns to Bayern training after leaving Colombia camp

Oliver Kahn believes the appointment of Jupp Heynckes has been the key to Bayern Munich's recent success.

James Rodriguez is back in training at Bayern Munich after returning early from international duty with Colombia.

Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes said the playmaker's international schedule "was verging on insanity" as he flew to friendlies against South Korea in Seoul and China in Chongqing immediately after his side's last Bundesliga match.

James, 26, played in the defeat to South Korea on Friday but chose to return to Germany ahead of Saturday's Bavarian derby against Augsburg rather than taking part in the China match on Tuesday.

Speaking ahead of the game against China, Colombia coach Jose Pekerman said: "We all know how much James likes to wear the national team jersey, but he is also enjoying wearing the Bayern shirt and I don't want to prevent him from doing so.

"He came here personally and said he wanted to return to his club. I've known James for the past five years, but it's the first time he's asked me for something like this."

Meanwhile, Thomas Muller continued his comeback on Monday, training with the team before working individually.

Muller, 27, suffered a thigh muscle injury in the win at Hamburg on Oct. 21 and was ruled out for three weeks.

Defenders Jerome Boateng and David Alaba both sat out international friendlies with muscle injuries but continue to train individually.

Juan Bernat is back in full training and expected to feature in the squad at the weekend for the first time since suffering ankle ligament damage on the summer tour of Asia in July.

Robert Lewandowski, who pulled out of Poland's friendlies against Uruguay and Mexico to rest a thigh injury, returned to training on Tuesday.

Information from ESPN FC's Adriana Garcia was used in this report.
