Bayern confirm Franck Ribery suffered ligament damage in Hertha Berlin draw

Franck Ribery has suffered knee ligament damage and faces a spell on the sidelines, Bayern Munich have confirmed.

Ribery was forced out of Bayern's 2-2 draw against Hertha Berlin at the weekend with a leg injury.

Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic was quoted as saying that the injury "doesn't look good."

And writing on their official Twitter feed on Monday, Bayern said: "Franck Ribery has suffered an LCL [lateral collateral ligament] tear in his left knee. Get well soon, Franck!"

Former France international Ribery was examined by Bayern medical staff after leaving the game in visible pain just after the hour mark.
