Joshua Kimmich has told kicker he would play in goal if it guaranteed him regular first-team football at Bayern Munich. Kimmich, 22, made 39 Bayern appearances in all competitions last season, but 19 of those came as a substitute. Last month, he said he was "not happy with the season I've had," as he struggled to hold down a spot under Carlo Ancelotti but did not want to leave. And asked about his preferred playing position, he said: "It's not important which position, but whether I actually play. "If I had a choice between playing and watching, then I would always decide to play each and every time. "I would prefer to play left-wing, striker or even goalkeeper -- any other position -- rather than sitting on the bench as a central midfielder." Kimmich has enjoyed more success at international level, playing every minute of Germany's last 14 games. Playing at right-back, he set up three goals and was pivotal in two more in the 7-0 World Cup qualifying win over San Marino in Nuremberg on Saturday. But Kimmich remained philosophical about his lack of starts at club level, saying: "There's seriously talented players who have been around for a long time, both in the national team and with Bayern, so there's always a danger of not playing so often." Earlier this year, he was linked with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, as well as both Manchester United and Manchester City. In May, Stuttgarter Zeitung reported that he was set to leave, but Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge dismissed the report as "a monstrous fallacy." Kimmich will take part in Germany's Confederations Cup campaign alongside Bayern's summer signings from Hoffenheim, Niklas Sule and Sebastian Rudy.
