Bayern Munich's Javi Martinez breaks collarbone hiking in mountains

Bayern Munich defender Javi Martinez has broken his collarbone hiking in the mountains and will miss the Bundesliga champions' final two games of the season.

Bayern announced on their official website "the 28-year-old broke his left collarbone on Sunday while hiking in the mountains while at home in Spain."

Martinez returned to Munich after the incident and underwent surgery on Tuesday.

Martinez will miss Bayern's remaining Bundesliga fixtures -- the trip to second-placed RB Leipzig on Saturday and Freiburg on the final day of the season.

Both Bayern's first-choice goalkeepers, Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich, have also been ruled out for the remainder of the season through injury, meaning 36-year-old No. 3 Tom Starke is set to stand in.
