Bayern Munich open football school in Chinese city of Shenzhen

Bayern Munich have announced that they have opened a football school in Shenzhen, China.

Bayern's youth coaches will regularly visit Shenzhen as well as developing Chinese coaches and players in Munich.

The exchange follows last week's announcement that the German champions are to open an office in Shanghai to cater for "their broad fan base in China with more than 136 million followers."

Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern brand ambassador and 2001 Champions League winner, said: "Chinese football has enormous potential, and we want to play our part in supporting and promoting the development by means of our knowledge and our experience in the youth sector."

The new school "is a marker for the implementation of our international strategy in China," Jorg Wacker, Bayern's director for internationalisation and strategy, said.

Bayern face AC Milan in Shenzhen on July 22, with further games lined up against Arsenal, Chelsea and Inter Milan as part of their summer tour of China and Singapore.
