Bayern Munich's Bayern's Hummels may miss Cologne game with injury

Bayern Munich defender Mats Hummels hopes to be available for the game at Cologne on Saturday after suffering an injury but has said he is "at least doubtful."

Hummels, 28, was substituted at half-time of Tuesday's 3-0 DFB Pokal quarterfinal first leg home win over 2011 tournament winners Schalke.

He told reporters after the game that he had felt slight pain in his buttock and asked Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti to substitute him.

The central defender said he hoped to be able to play and added: "My first impression is that it's not too bad and perhaps I'll be able to train on Friday, but at the moment I don't know.

"But I definitely would like to be able to play in Cologne."

Bayern are five points clear of nearest challengers RB Leipzig with 12 games remaining and travel to Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday with a 5-1 lead from the first leg.

Hummels added: "With Arsenal in mind, I didn't want to take any chances and risk making the injury worse."
