Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng doubtful for Wolfsburg game

Jerome Boateng is a serious doubt for Bayern Munich's Bundesliga game against Wolfsburg on Saturday after his latest injury setback.

Boateng, 28, suffered a knock to his right shoulder ahead of the Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid and did not feature in the narrow 1-0 win.

The defender returned to training on Wednesday but told kicker that it would be "a tight run thing" whether he is available for the home match against strugglers Wolfsburg at the weekend.

However, Boateng said he has "a realistic chance" of being available for the German champions' final two league games before the winter break -- in Darmstadt and at home to leaders RB Leipzig on Dec. 21.

Boateng has suffered two serious muscle tears in 2016 and only started five league games this season, completing the full match only twice. He said he had only reached "perhaps 70, 80 percent capacity" following his recent injury setbacks, adding: "That's not enough for my game."

However, Germany's Footballer of the Year has featured from the beginning in all three of Bayern's losses this campaign -- away at Atletico, Rostov and Borussia Dortmund -- and they remain unbeaten without him, racking up 10 wins and a draw in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Boateng confirmed that his recent spat with CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is resolved following clear-the-air talks.

"Yes, everything is OK," Boateng said.

Rummenigge had criticised Boateng's performance and lifestyle after Bayern's Champions League defeat at Rostov last month, saying he needed to "come back to earth a little."

The ex-Manchester City defender responded by saying his poor performance in Russia had "nothing to do with any PR or lifestyle obligations."

Boateng also said that he is not expecting a club fine for saying that he "could only laugh" about Rummenigge's comments in the aftermath of the surprise defeat in Russia.
