Carlo Ancelotti: Bayern sticking to same system despite Dortmund defeat

Carlo Ancelotti says Bayern Munich will stick with the same system for their Champions League game in Rostov, despite slipping to a first Bundesliga defeat of the season at the weekend.

Ancelotti tasted defeat for the first time in the Bundesliga on Saturday, losing 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker.

"We played with three attackers against Dortmund and we won't change this system for Rostov," Ancelotti said at the prematch news conference.

"Of course, we can play better than we did on Saturday and I'm sure we will show this tomorrow."

Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery formed the front three as the Bavarians failed to score on Saturday.

The trio made the trip to Russia on Tuesday, but Manuel Neuer, Arjen Robben, Javi Martinez and Arturo Vidal all remained in Munich with injuries.

Sub-zero temperatures are expected at game time 6 p.m. CET, but the 57-year-old Italian did not want to overplay the importance of the weather conditions for Wednesday's game.

"We have to play when it's cold and when it's hot, he said. "If we are focused on the game, the temperature isn't important."

Bayern beat Rostov 5-0 in the group opener in Munich but, prior to their narrow 1-0 loss to leaders Atletico Madrid last time out, the Champions League newcomers had enjoyed a proud unbeaten home record of 26 matches in all competitions.

Ancelotti said he was expecting a tough game in Russia against a "good Rostov team."

He added: "Rostov played well here against Atletico and PSV Eindhoven. We'll have to play well and give 100 percent to win."

Bayern can set up a showdown for top spot against Atletico Madrid in their final group game -- provided they beat Rostov.

But striker Lewandowski warned: "If we don't win tomorrow, then there's no decider against Atletico on Dec. 6."
