Carlo Ancelotti promises full-strength Bayern Munich against PSV Eindhoven

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has said he will play his strongest side in the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday as the German champions aim to seal their progress into the next round.

Ancelotti has rotated his squad heavily in recent weeks, but speaking at a news conference ahead of the away clash against the 23-time Dutch champions the Italian promised his best XI in Eindhoven.

"It's a really important game, we want to qualify after this game," Ancelotti said. "We still want to finish first in the group, so I will choose the best lineup."

Arjen Robben, 32, returns to face his former club where he played between 2002 and 2004, before joining Chelsea, then coached by Claudio Ranieri.

Ancelotti confirmed that Robben would definitely play, but wouldn't reveal whether the Netherlands skipper would start.

"Of course, he can play because he's in good condition, " he said. "But I don't know how long for, whether it's 10, 15, 30, 45 or 90 minutes."

Robben provided both assists for Robert Lewandowski's brace and scored a goal himself against Augsburg in the Bundesliga at the weekend.

"He's doing really well at the moment," Ancelotti added. "He is showing his quality, experience and this is great for the team. I hope he can continue at this level and, as a team, we are trying to help him maintain this level for a long time."

Ancelotti also asked his players to follow the lead of Robben and Lewandowski, working together for the benefit of the team.

"It's important that the players unselfishly help and support each other. Robben and Lewandowski were a good example of this in the last game.

"I hope that everyone understands that that the most important thing is to help the team to become better."

Ancelotti praised his side for their four straight wins, ending a spell of three games without a win with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over PSV in Munich.

"The team has played well since Frankfurt," he said.

"We are playing with quality, intensity and with good team spirit.

"We will need all these things tomorrow because PSV is very good at home. It will be a difficult game."

Ancelotti revealed he has no plans to waver from the 4-3-3 formation that has served Bayern well in recent games.

"We are doing well with this system, so we aren't going to change," he said.

Ancelotti also confirmed that Holger Badstuber, twice a substitute in four days against Bavarian neighbours Augsburg, would once again line up on the bench on Tuesday as the central defender continues his comeback from injury.
