Bayern Munich 'suffered' for Ingolstadt victory - Carlo Ancelotti

Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti said the German champions "need to suffer" after seeing them recover from going a goal behind to beat Ingolstadt 3-1 in the Bavarian derby at the Allianz Arena.

The visitors took a shock lead after only eight minutes through Dario Lezcano, but in-form Robert Lewandowski equalised four minutes later with his 10th goal of the season for club and country. Xabi Alonso fired Bayern into the lead five minutes after half-time with a superb strike from just outside the box, before Brazil international Rafinha sealed the three points with six minutes remaining.

Philipp Lahm, Thomas Muller and David Alaba all missed the game with a stomach virus, while Mats Hummels couldn't play either due to a heavy cold, but Ancelotti refused to blame the lengthy list of absentees for the Bayern's struggles.

"We were missing a lot of players but we have a good squad," he said. "After conceding an early goal the game was difficult. We had problems at the back and it wasn't an easy game. We were able to equalise early and we played well in the second half and wrapped up the points with Rafinha's goal.

"We are playing a lot of games, with a lot of new players returning from injury, who are maybe not yet in top condition," he said. "Sometimes we need to suffer."

The Italian was particularly impressed with Manuel Neuer's "great" performance, labelling the Germany international "the best goalkeeper in the world."

Kingsley Coman made his comeback following four weeks out with an ankle injury, while German Footballer of the Year Jerome Boateng appeared as a late substitute, making his first appearance since tearing a muscle for in Germany's Euro 2016 semifinal defeat against France over two months ago.
