Bayern Munich have received a boost after the club confirmed that Mats Hummels' head injury is not as serious as at first feared.
Five minutes before half-time of Bayern's 5-0 Champions League win over Rostov, Hummels saw a powerful diving header brilliantly saved by Rostov goalkeeper Soslan Dzhanaev.
When challenging for the ball the Germany international took a knock to the face from Rostov defender Miha Mevlja.
Hummels, 27, tried to play on following treatment and received further medical help at half-time, but his Champions League debut for the Bavarians, following 27 appearances in the competition for Borussia Dortmund, ended prematurely on 51 minutes when he was taken off by Carlo Ancelotti.
However, Bayern's Italian boss confirmed that Hummels' substitution was purely a precautionary move.
Ancelotti said: "He wasn't feeling well. I didn't want to take any risks."

After his substitution, Hummels was rushed off for an MRI scan at Bayern's training facility on Tuesday evening. The club later announced on their website that Hummels had only suffered "a slight contusion to the skull," while the player reassured fans of his wellbeing on social media.
Juan Bernat replaced Hummels and the Spain international seized his opportunity by scoring his first Champions League goal in the victory.
