Bayern 'mustn't underestimate' any Champions League foe - Rummenigge

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge expects his side to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League following Thursday's draw, just as long as they keep a level head.

Bayern, who have been beaten in the semifinals in each of the past three seasons since winning the trophy in 2013, will face Atletico Madrid, Rostov and PSV Eindhoven.

Atletico ended their dreams in the last four in April and Rummenigge admits Diego Simeone's men will be the main threat once again.

"It's a very challenging group," he said on his club's website. "We are going to have to keep our focus and then we should have enough to reach the last 16.

"We and Atletico are the group favourites, but we mustn't underestimate the others at all.

"Rostov have got to be taken seriously."

Captain Philipp Lahm nevertheless spoke of Bayern having a "duty" to get through the group stage once again "even if we are up against Atletico."

The presence of last year's beaten finalists will make for a "very challenging" group, in the words of Mats Hummels, who makes his return to the competition after missing out with Borussia Dortmund last season.
