Arjen Robben plays down Bayern Munich contract, eyes return to fitness

Arjen Robben wants to return to full fitness before he thinks about his contract situation at Bayern Munich.

The 32-year-old is about to enter the final 12 months of his current deal at the Allianz Arena and he hasn't played for the German club since suffering an adductor injury in early March.

He was initially expected to make a swift return from injury but his appearance in the 0-0 draw at Borussia Dortmund on March 5 remained his last under old Bayern coach Pep Guardiola.

The Netherlands international is now set to enter the final year of his contract and only last week the club's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that both Robben and Franck Ribery have to be patient before entering talks with the club.

The former Chelsea player has been a key player at Bayern for seven years now, but in recent weeks been linked with an exit with Kicker reporting that Besiktas are hoping to lure Robben to Turkey for the final few years of his career.

"I appreciate any interest from other clubs. But right now that does not play a role," Robben said.

"I don't give thought to a new contract right now. I want to get fit again, and stay healthy after that.

"That's my biggest wish right now. I want to be able to enjoy my football again. That's it."
