Bayern Munich set record for conceding fewest Bundesliga goals

Bayern Munich have set a new Bundesliga record for conceding the fewest goals in a single season.

Bayern conceded just 17 goals in their 34 games as they won an unprecedented fourth consecutive title.

Jupp Heynckes' Treble-winning side had set the previous record with 18 goals conceded in 2012-13. Under Pep Guardiola, they matched that tally in 2014-15 and then went one better this time around.

Manuel Neuer, who moved to the Allianz Arena in 2011, had kept 20 clean sheets going into Saturday's victory over rock-bottom Hannover 96 and had not conceded when Guardiola opted to bring on Sven Ulreich on 51 minutes. The match finished 3-1.

Ulreich, who was making his first league appearance since leaving Stuttgart last summer, produced an excellent save from Edgar Prib on 68 minutes to secure the record.

Neuer, who kept 20 clean sheets last season, became the first keeper to exceed that tally after keeping out Hannover for the duration of his time on the pitch on Saturday.

"That's outstanding," Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said during the official title celebrations at Munich's Postpalast late on Saturday.

Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski, who netted the opener against Hannover, also became the first player with 30 goals to his name in a Bundesliga season since Dieter Muller's 34 in 1976-77.
