Pep Guardiola: Robert Lewandowski vital to Bayern Munich success

Pep Guardiola paid tribute to Robert Lewandwoski's 30-goal season after the striker scored in Bayern Munich's 3-1 win over Hamburg on Saturday.

The Poland international became the first player with 30 goals to his name in a Bundesliga season since Dieter Muller's 34 goals back in 1976-77.

"All credit to him: it's not easy to score 30 goals," Guardiola said on the club's official website. "Scoring is his great quality, he's very dangerous in the box.

"But he also fought a lot for the team. He's been very important for us. He's absolutely deserves this."

Lewandowski's goals also played a vital role in teammates Kingsley Coman and Joshua Kimmich claiming their first Bundesliga medals.

"The first title is always the most beautiful one," Kimmich said. "It may be even more exciting for me than for others who celebrated their fifth title."

And despite being just 19, teammate Coman has already won Ligue 1 twice along with Serie A.

However, the France international was just as happy to lay his hands on the Bundesliga shield, with eyes already set on the future.

"It's very nice and hopefully the beginning of a very big story," he said.
