Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has welcomed the signing of his former Borussia Dortmund teammate Mats Hummels, telling ESPN FC the deal is "very good for the whole club." Dortmund confirmed this week that Hummels, who came through the Bayern youth academy, will return to the Allianz Arena this summer for a reported €35 million fee. Lewandowski, who made the same switch in 2014, said he expects the 27-year-old Germany international to strike up a strong partnership with Jerome Boateng at the heart of the Bayern defence. "One of the best centre-backs in the world is coming to Bayern -- that's obvious," the Poland striker told ESPN FC. "We don't even have to talk about his defensive qualities. "Mats and Jerome know each other well from the German national team and complement each other. They both have something that most defenders, even at this level, don't have -- the ability to do lots of good stuff with the ball. "When you have two players at the back who are comfortable to come forward with the ball, who can pass it forward or hit long diagonal balls directly to the strikers, you have more options in possession. "Mats coming won't just help the defence, he'll help everybody, especially in Europe." BVB captain Hummels is set to make his final appearance for the club when they face Bayern in the DFB Pokal final in Berlin on May 21. Bayern, who will be coached by Carlo Ancelotti next season, also announced the signing of Benfica midfielder Renato Sanches this week.
