Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski targeting Bundesliga goals landmark

Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski has set his sights on becoming the first Bundesliga player to score 30 goals in one season in 39 years.

A first-half brace at Ingolstadt from Lewandowski, 27, not only secured Bayern a historic fourth consecutive Bundesliga title, but also saw Lewandowski break clear in the race for the Torjagerkanone, the trophy for the league's top scorer.

The Poland international took his tally to 29 goals, taking him to four more than Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of the final match of the season

With the league title secured, Lewandowski has now turned his focus on becoming the division's first 30-goal forward since the 1976-77 season when Cologne's Dieter Muller hit 34.

"I have a four-goal lead, but I want to step on the gas one more time," Lewandowski told reporters. "30 goals would be nice."

With 29 goals, the Bayern forward has already equalled Schalke attacker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's record from the 2011-12 season and on Saturday became only the second foreign player in Bundesliga history to reach that number.

Lewandowski has won the Torjagerkanone in 2014 when 20 goals were enough in his final season for Borussia Dortmund.

"I am delighted with my brace, sure. And of course I have one more goal this season. I hope I can do it next weekend," Lewandowski added, referring to a possible second trophy as the league's top scorer.

Only five Bundesliga players have reached the 30-goal mark. Alongside Bayern legend Gerd Muller, who scored 30 or more in five season between 1969 and 1974, and his Cologne namesake, Gladbach's Jupp Heynckes, Hamburg legend Uwe Seeler and Dortmund's Lothar Emmerich reached the tally.

In 193 Bundesliga matches for Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, Lewandowski has scored 120 goals, making him the foreign player with the second most goals in Bundesliga history.

He still has some work to do to catch current leader Claudio Pizarro, 37, who has hit 190 goals in 410 matches for Bayern and Werder Bremen.
