Franck Ribery returns to Bayern training, Arjen Robben misses Atletico

Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery is set to resume training ahead of Tuesday's Champions League semifinal against Atletico Madrid, but Arjen Robben will not be fit for the game.

Ribery, 33, sat out the 1-1 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga at the weekend after picking up a knock to his back in the first leg at the Vicente Calderon last week.

However, on Sunday, the former France international told kicker that he wants to return to the starting XI.

"I have to play," he said. "I feel better. I did some running exercise, and will resume team training on Monday. I am ready for the match. I am fired up for playing and I also have to play."

Like Thomas Muller, the winger only came off the bench in the 1-0 defeat at Atletico last week as coach Pep Guardiola opted to play Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman on the wings.

Robben, meanwhile, will not take part in the second leg at the Allianz Arena as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury suffered in March, but insists he is still targeting a return later this month.

"I'm not as far as I'd like, or as I should be," he told Bayern Munich TV. "But I'll keep it up and fight for a comeback, looking to play a role before the season is over."
