Bayern Munich director Matthias Sammer recovering after health issue

Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer is recovering well after a minor health problem, he and the club have announced.

The former Germany international, 48, has been absent from the dugout for Bayern's last two games, against Werder Bremen and Hertha Berlin.

Club doctor Professor Roland Schmidt described the issue as "a minute circulatory disorder in the brain, which will heal completely and without consequences''.

And Sammer told the club's official website: "I'm not constrained in any way and the doctors have assured me I'll be completely healed and restored.

"However, I will give myself the necessary time to recover. After that I will again be available to the team and FC Bayern with all my energy.''

Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added: "The most important thing now is that Matthias Sammer recovers completely.

"Matthias knows we will give him all the time he needs before he resumes his duties at FC Bayern with his previous strength."
