Manuel Neuer signs new Bayern Munich contract until 2021

Bayern Munich have announced that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has signed a new contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2021.

Neuer, 30, joined Bayern from Schalke for €30 million in 2011 and has since won numerous trophies, including three Bundesliga titles and the Champions League in 2013.

The Germany international had been linked with a move to Manchester City, where current Bayern boss Pep Guardiola will manage next season, but his five-year deal has ended that speculation.

Bild reports that his new terms will see him earn similar to teammate Thomas Muller, who is said to be paid €15 million a year including bonuses.

Neuer, whose previous contract at the Allianz Arena was due to expire in 2019, has made a total of 313 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke and Bayern.

Neuer told the club's official website: "I feel great here at FC Bayern and am delighted that we've now tied it up. We are still competing for every trophy, and have great chances to win a lot of silverware this year.

"This is our short-term goal, but also in the years to come. I am very much looking forward to my future at FC Bayern."

He becomes the fifth Bayern mainstay to sign a contract until 2021, after Javi Martinez, Jerome Boateng and Thomas Muller committed their futures to the German champions in December, while David Alaba also put pen to paper earlier this year.

Youngster Joshua Kimmich, 21, and winger Douglas Costa, 25, are under contract until 2020.

"He's the best keeper in the world and we are totally satisfied with his performances," Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.

"You can rely on Manuel in goal and we are delighted that he decided to stay at Bayern and sign a new contract. We now have tied all key players to club on long-term deals. The fans don't need to worry about the future."

Bayern are also reported to be in talks with Poland international Robert Lewandowski's representatives. The attacker is currently tied to the club until 2019.
