Bayern Munich executive denies new Arjen Robben injury report

Bayern Munich have dismissed a report in Sport Bild that Arjen Robben has suffered an avulsion fracture in the groin area as "not correct."

Netherlands international Robben, 32, has not featured for Bayern since the goalless draw at Dortmund in early March.

When he missed the final training session ahead of the Champions League clash with Juventus in the middle of that month, the club at first said he had picked up a cold.

In the buildup to the match, they confirmed "problems in the adductor region," adding that he needed a short rest.

A month on, Robben is still limited to completing laps at the club's training grounds, and last week said the situation was "really frustrating."

Bayern have said they were "extremely cautious" about setting a date for the player's return because of his previous injury record.

Earlier this week, SportBild claimed Robben had suffered an avulsion fracture, but speaking to Sky before Bayern's 2-2 Champions League draw with Benfica on Wednesday, Bayern Munich sporting executive Matthias Sammer said: "That's completely wrong.

"It's not correct. He has problems in the adductor region, like we have said all along. He could not have completed a public 30-minute running session at our training facilities. It's a phenomenon to me how that could even be possible."
