Arjen Robben injury causing Bayern Munich concern ahead of Benfica

Bayern Munich are being "extremely cautious" with Arjen Robben's recovery amid reports he will miss their Champions League quarterfinal against Benfica.

Robben, 32, was absent for Bayern's triumph over Juventus at the Allianz Arena, and also pulled out of Netherlands' recent friendlies against France and England.

In a statement released on the Netherlands federation's website in mid-March, the winger said that he will "concentrate fully" on his recovery, while Bayern sporting executive Matthias Sammer said on Sky that Robben needs "a couple of days" off with "problems in the adductor region."

But two weeks on from those statements, Robben has still not resumed team training at Bayern, and on Tuesday was pictured at the training grounds wearing a grey jogging suit by Bild.

The paper reported that Bayern fear the Netherlands winger could miss up to five weeks of action, and thus fail to be available for the upcoming Champions League quarterfinal against Benfica.

An official statement released by the club to Bild said that Robben still had "problems in the adductor region" and currently was rested because the club are "extremely cautious" because of his previous injury record.

Earlier this season, Robben sustained an injury in the adductor region while with the national team and was sidelined from early September through to late October.

He also sat out several matches because of muscular problems toward the end of 2015, and has played in only 21 of Bayern's 39 competitive matches this season.
