Holger Badstuber released from hospital, vows to return for Bayern

Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber has vowed to come back again after being released from hospital on Monday.

The 26-year-old defender suffered the fifth serious injury of his career on Saturday morning when he broke his ankle in training.

He underwent surgery on Saturday night but will not play again this season.

"I'm delighted to be able to go back home," said the German defender on his club's official website on Monday.

"Of course it was also a big shock for me, but I look ahead positively.

"I will come back, I can promise everybody that."

Badstuber's Bayern teammates paid tribute to the injury-prone defender before their fixture with Augsburg on Sunday, when they wore a shirt saying 'We are with you, you will make it again' with Badstuber's name and number on the back.

Bayern fans also chanted his name during Sunday's 3-1 win at Bavarian rivals Augsburg.

Afterwards, Bayern coach Pep Guardiola dedicated the win to his defender, without whom he was forced to field midfielder Joshua Kimmich and full-back David Alaba at the heart of his defence.

Badstuber has joined Jerome Boateng, Javi Martinez and Medhi Benatia on the sidelines for the German champions.
