Bayern's Thomas Muller accepts being rested against Bayer Leverkusen

Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller says he has no problem with being dropped to the bench for Saturday's 0-0 draw at Bayer Leverkusen.

Muller, 26, was left out of Pep Guardiola's starting XI in the Bundesliga for the first time since October -- when Bayern were held to a goalless draw by Eintracht Frankfurt.

Muller came off the bench on the hour, replacing Netherlands captain Arjen Robben, and had two good chances to break the deadlock but narrowly missed the target.

Guardiola later explained that by benching Muller, and playing Douglas Costa in a central midfield role, he hoped to take pressure off his team from Leverkusen's attacks.

"It's nothing new that because of our squad some players are left out, who believe they should be part of the starting lineup," Muller told reporters after the final whistle.

The week leading up to the Leverkusen match had seen reports of unrest in the Bayern dressing room, which the club have rejected.

Muller believes it was an attempt to cause trouble in the Bayern camp to try and make Bundesliga exciting again. Bayern currently hold an eight-point lead over Dortmund in the table.

"Of course, something is made up there," he insisted. "Efforts are made to annoy Bayern.

"I can understand that the rest of Germany wants the margin between position one and two to decrease. But we've got a good setup here, and thus we don't have be worried."
