Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery 'feeling good' ahead of injury return

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has said he is making steady progress with his comeback from injury.

Ribery, 32, could make his return in February following a thigh injury he sustained in mid-December.

The former France winger missed the majority of 2015 with an ankle injury and two games into his comeback he suffered a major setback in December's Champions League clash with Dinamo Zagreb.

While the Bayern squad were granted a day off ahead of the restart of the Bundesliga on Friday, Ribery and his teammates Medhi Benatia and Mario Gotze worked on their fitness at the club's training facilities.

"I'm feeling good," Ribery told the club's official website after his programme, and added that the below zero temperatures in Munich did not bother him too much.

"It's very cold, but I'm happy when I can put on my boots and be out on the pitch."

Ribery, who initially was expected back in the Bayern squad in time for the DFB Pokal match at VfL Bochum on Feb. 10, said that he does not want to take any risks and rush his return.

"The muscle is OK again. But we don't want to take any risks. Not too fast," he said, adding he was hopeful to complete sprints "soon."

Meanwhile, Jerome Boateng has been handed a one-match suspension for the club's next friendly following his sending off in the 2-1 test match defeat at Karlsruhe at the weekend, the German FA announced on its website.

Boateng was sent off for a professional foul 73 minutes into the match at the Wildparkstadion in Karlsruhe.
