David Alaba wants regular playing position at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich's David Alaba is keen to secure a more consistent playing position in Pep Guardiola's side.

Alaba, 23, is a key member of Bayern's squad, playing the full 90 minutes in 17 of 18 matches in all competitions this season.

Guardiola has praised the Austria international for his versatility, telling reporters in October: "David Alaba is our god. He has played in nearly all 10 positions."

The club's sporting executive Matthias Sammer has also highlighted the importance of Alaba, who came through the ranks as a left-back and plays in central midfield for Austria.

This season, he has frequently featured at centre-back in the absence of Javi Martinez, Holger Badstuber and Mehdi Benatia.

"I am aware that I can play in various positions," Alaba said in kicker. "I am still a young player who can learn from all those different tasks. It can only be good for my development.

"It's no secret I feel most comfortable in midfield. I feel that the coach rates me highly, and you can also see that because I always play. In the future I want to find a position on which I play regularly."
