Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery 'still have time' at Bayern despite injuries

Arjen Robben has told critics not to write off his partnership with Franck Ribery despite the Bayern Munich wingers' injury struggles.

Robben, 31, and Ribery, 32, have been instrumental for Bayern in recent years, but both have failed to regularly start for the German champions in 2015.

The Netherlands international scored 17 Bundesliga goals last season, but only briefly returned in August from an injury layoff earlier this year before sustaining a groin injury during the recent international break.

Former France international Ribery was also key for Bayern before back problems struck ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil last summer, and he has not taken to the field since mid-March.

Bayern are slowly preparing for life after the veteran pair having signed Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman in the summer, but Robben says they can still contribute.

Speaking to Sport 1 at the weekend, Robben said: "It's hopefully still a bit of time until the post-'Robbery' era.

"It's always good when a club plans for the future. It's not about individuals, it's about the team."

Bayern have won three consecutive Bundesliga titles, but have twice been knocked out in the Champions League semifinals. Last season, Pep Guardiola was without several key players for their trip to Barcelona, and Robben believes that a full squad could be the key for the Bavarians this season.

"We've got a super squad," he continued. "But we also had a super squad in the best two seasons. It's about having a complete squad in the important stages. We've only played four league games -- the Champions League hasn't even started yet. Let's stay calm."

To be fully fit during the second half of the season, Robben added that he will take all the time in the world until he returns from injury: "There's no schedule. I won't take any risks. When I come back my goal is to stay fit until the end of the season."

Elsewhere, Germany international Mario Gotze completed an individual running session on Sunday after missing the 2-1 win against Augsburg with "slight muscular problems."

Bayern confirmed that the World Cup winner "is likely available" for their first Champions League match of the season at Olympikaos on Wednesday.
