Bayern Munich midfielder Arjen Robben has returned to training after a 10-day spell on the sidelines that meant he missed the club's preseason tour of China.

Robben, 31, stayed behind in Munich with a muscle problem and worked alone at the club's Sabener Strasse training ground.

The Netherlands international told Bayern's official website: "I was able to work really well and it's all gone to plan in terms of getting in shape. I'm very happy."

He will now begin preparations for the German Supercup clash at Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Following the departure of Bastian Schweinsteiger to Manchester United, Robben -- who joined Bayern from Real Madrid in 2009 -- is expected to play a more central role next season.

Speaking to kicker on Monday, Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "Arjen Robben, just like Franck Ribery, is a totally established player. They are leaders by performance.

"Arjen is a world class player and plays a part on the pitch. I don't believe he wants to command the squad."
