Robert Lewandowski and Jerome Boateng in Bayern training bustup

Bayern Munich teammates Robert Lewandowski and Jerome Boateng were involved in a training-ground bustup on Wednesday.

The pair were sent to the showers early by coach Pep Guardiola after a physical confrontation as the team took part in their first training session since Saturday's 2-1 defeat at relegation-threatened Freiburg.

The Bayern players had been given some time off after the loss -- their fifth in six games -- as they prepare for their final game of the season against Mainz this week.

However, Lewandowski and Boateng did not complete the session. Pictures published by local paper tz showed Germany defender Boateng tackle his teammate before getting up and fighting with the striker.

They were soon separated by teammates Philipp Lahm, Rafinha and Medhi Benatia, before Guardiola ordered them to leave the session.

The pair had memorably clashed on the field during the 2013 Champions League final, when Lewandowski was still playing for Borussia Dortmund.

In more positive news for Bayern, David Alaba returned to full training following the knee injury he sustained in March.
