Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery: Ankle injury problem is 'boring'

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has told Bild he is beginning to find his ongoing injury problems "boring."

Ribery, 32, sustained an ankle injury in Bayern's 7-0 win over Shakthar Donetsk on March 11 and, after attempting to return to training too quickly, he suffered a setback and subsequently missed the club's semifinal defeats in the DFB Pokal and Champions League.

Speaking as he left the offices of former Bayern club doctor Hans-Wilhem Muller-Wohlfahrt, where the former France international continues to receive treatment, Ribery said his ankle is slowly improving but remains painful when under stress.

"I've been dragging around this injury for such a long time now," said Ribery, who will miss the final game of the season against Mainz this weekend.

"That's really frustrating. I am just annoyed. It's boring to have things like they are now."

Meanwhile, Bayern teammate David Alaba is back training with a ball six weeks after sustaining a knee injury.

Alaba sustained the injury with the Austrian national team in late March and, while he will not be fit for the Mainz game, he is making steady progress as he works towards him comeback.

The 22-year-old, who had hoped to be available for the Champions League final before Bayern's exit, tweeted a picture of himself working with the ball on Monday, 10 days after resuming jogging and running.
