Bayern Munich will be without both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery when they return to Bundesliga action against Werder Bremen at the weekend.

The Bundesliga champions, who humiliated Shakhtar Donetsk 7-0 in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, confirmed that the two attackers would be out on their official Twitter feed.

They wrote: "Bad news: Robben (trapped nerve) and Ribery (ankle sprain) will be missing in Bremen on Saturday."

Meanwhile, Bayern sporting executive Matthias Sammer has hit out at Bremen counterpart Thomas Eichin in the build-up to the match.

Asked about the former ice hockey manager's criticism of refereeing performances at recent Bayern games, Sammer said it was "beneath contempt."

Eichin, who began his career in management with the Cologne Sharks ice hockey team, returned to football when Bremen appointed him in 2013.

In a recent interview with local paper Weser Kurier, the 48-year-old claimed Bundesliga referees showed too much respect for the Bavarians.

Citing the two controversial decisions -- a free-kick and a penalty -- by referee Tobias Welz that turned Bayern's recent match at Hannover, he said: "When you are situation to annoy Bayern, the referee ideally should not act in behalf of Bayern."

He urged officials to "finally discard the respect," and said he was under the impression that they had double standards when officiating the champions' games.

Eichin also claimed Ribery "should have been sent off five times this season" and said coach Pep Guardiola "can do whatever he wants on the sidelines" without being punished.

But an angry Sammer told Sky: "That's nothing other than accusing German referees of manipulation. This is beneath contempt.

"He probably too a hit by a puck at some point and we are looking at the late complications here."

But Eichin told kicker on Thursday: "The fierce reaction only shows that I have hit a nerve with what I said."
