Pep Guardiola: Bayern can still improve

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola said things can still get better for his side, despite ending his first season in charge with four trophies.

Bayern clinched the DFB-Pokal to add to their Bundesliga title, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup crowns with a 2-0 extra-time win over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday night. However, Guardiola has set his sights on doing even better next year.

"It was a difficult year for me because I don't really speak that good German, but I think four titles in a year is great,'' he told Sky. "But we've got to move on and improve certain things.''

Arjen Robben was Guardiola's match winner with the opening goal in extra-time after Dortmund had seen what looked like a valid goal not given.

"He's a world class players,'' Guardiola enthused. "He was probably our most important forward this year, together with (Mario) Mandzukic. I'm happy with him and enjoy working with him.''

Robben shared that delight having decided the second final in a year against Dortmund having proven decisive in the Champions League showpiece last May.

"I always said that games like these are the best things going,'' said the Dutchman. "You've just got to enjoy them and be ready for them. I didn't see much of the ball, but I just waited and knew that my chance would come.

"It was a great cross from Jerome and all I had to do was remain focused and tuck it in, otherwise you can send the ball into the stands. I should really have got a second goal too, but there was a bit of tiredness there.''

While there was plenty of joy in the Bayern camp, Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp was struggling to digest that a goal for his side was not given.

The German Football League have stoically refused to introduce goal-line technology, but Klopp says even that should not have been needed to see how clearly Mats Hummels' header had crossed the line midway through the second half.

"I'm not going to beat about the bush - we scored a goal and it wasn't given, and that's a real shame,'' Klopp said. "The referee kept telling me we would need goal-line technology, but everybody on the bench could tell straight away that the ball was in.

"I don't want to point the finger at anybody, but that goal would have done our game a lot of good. We've lost 2-0, even though we scored a goal.''
