Bayern defenders on World XI shortlist

Four Bayern Munich defenders have been named on a 20-man shortlist as part of the process to decide the 2013 FIFA FIFPro World XI.

David Alaba, Jerome Boateng, Dante and Philipp Lahm shone for Bayern Munich last season.

David Alaba, Jerome Boateng, Dante and Philipp Lahm have been nominated by their peers after they each played a role in Bayern's Treble success last season.

Alaba, Boateng and Dante join Everton's Leighton Baines, Real Madrid's Raphael Varane and Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta in debuting on the list.

The results will be announced on Jan. 13, 2014, at FIFA's Ballon d'Or presentation in Zurich.
