Bayern target Rode and Jung - report

Bayern Munich are keen on Eintracht Frankfurt pair Sebastian Rode and Sebastian Jung and have still not given up on bringing Mainz centre-back Jan Kirchhoff to the club before the summer, kicker reports.

Matthias Sammer: Bayern Munich general manager
Matthias Sammer has signalled that Bayern are focused on signing young players

Bayern Munich have vowed to change their transfer policy as they look for young and talented players on the German market, with general manager Matthias Sammer saying the “Kirchhoff signing sent out a signal”.

Bayern’s interest in highly-rated Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Sebastian Rode, 22, was made public last week, although Frankfurt general manager Bruno Hubner has claimed he is “not for sale”. Nonetheless, kicker reported on Monday that Bayern are also keen on signing 22-year-old right-back Sebastian Jung from the club.

Jung, like Rode, is under contract until 2014 at Frankfurt but is reported to have a €2.5 million release clause in his contract. Schalke have also been credited with an interest in the defender.

Meanwhile, Bayern have not given up on taking Kirchhoff, 22, to the Allianz Arena this month, having already agreed a deal to sign the 22-year-old in the summer. Although kicker believes the clubs are not currently in direct contact, Bayern expect talks to take place in January.

The paper also reports Bayern have not given up on VfL Bochum youngster Leon Goretzka, 17. The €3 million rated box-to-box player has been linked with a move away from the 2. Bundesliga club for a while now, with Borussia Dortmund and Schalke, as well as clubs from Spain and England, credited with an interest.
