Emir Spahic has been banned for three months and fined 20,000 euros for his part in a pitch-side brawl, the German Football Association (DFB) announced on Tuesday. Bayer Leverkusen already released the former Bosnia and Herzegovina captain earlier this month. The 34-year-old and his entourage attacked club stewards when some of the members of Spahic's group were refused to the dressing-room area of the Bay-Arena following the DFB-Pokal defeat to Bayern Munich. One steward lost two teeth, kicker reported. Spahic has since apologised for his behaviour, but his career at Leverkusen has come to an end. The Cologne prosecution is also investigating the case and have charge the player with aggravated assault, according to kicker. The DFB have now banned Spahic, who joined Leverkusen in 2013, until July 12, 2015 and have fined him a further 20,000 euros. Spahic has been linked with a switch to Turkey, with Besiktas coach Slaven Bilic recently telling Bosnian TV station BHT in quotes reported by Sport1: "Spahic gets better every day. He would help us with his experience. I would love to have him on my team."
