Rolfes extends Leverkusen stay
Simon Rolfes has penned a new two-year contract extension at Bayer Leverkusen, keeping him at the club until 2015.
Leverkusen captain Rolfes, who has been with the side since 2005, has quashed speculation that he was set to leave the club at the end of the season, with his old deal due to run out in June.
"The mix of experienced players and young talented ones is just right at the club and I want to play my part so we can achieve things in the future," Rolfes said in a statement.
Sports director Rudi Voeller added: "He will continue playing an important role for us.”
Leverkusen, who currently sit third in the Bundesliga - a point behind second-placed Borussia Dortmund - travel to eighth-placed Mainz on Saturday.
