Bastia's Djibril Cisse says move to play in MLS 'would be cool'

Djibril Cisse says "it would be cool" to play in Major League Soccer after doing a U-turn on retirement plans.

Earlier this season, Cisse, 33, announced he would be hanging up his boots at the end of the Ligue 1 campaign because of a debilitating hip injury.

However, though he has not started a league game for Bastia this season and made just six appearances in total, the former France and Liverpool forward told France Football he is determined to play again next season, with MLS a particularly attractive destination.

"As long as I can play, enjoy it, contribute my experience, help the youngsters and the older players, I'm happy," said the 2004-05 Champions League winner, whose Bastia contract expires next month.

"Clubs still think of me. There are a lot of offers from the USA. India too. I have two or three things in Poland and some things which are a little funky, but the USA would be cool."

Cisse has been working with an osteopath and a mental coach in a bid to extend his playing career, which has already taken him to clubs in England, Greece, Italy, Qatar and Russia as well as his native France.

"I don't want to have to stop or be told I have to stop because of an injury," he told Le Figaro. "It's up to me to decide. I will continue. I love this too much. I'll only stop if it breaks completely. It would be beautiful if it went when I was hitting a great volley, wouldn't it? At least it would go spectacularly.

"The doctors told me my career was over. The X-rays and the scans weren't good, but it was up to me to judge what was happening in my body. So, I didn't give up."
